Without a corporate classification scheme, Leicester City Council staff had created a plethora of folders for storing their electronic documents and records.

After choosing a.k.a.® software to build the corporate classification scheme and retention schedule, Leicester then embarked on a multistage project to take back control of their network drives, and transition to an eCM system.

During stage one of the project a.k.a.® software was used to import the existing file plans as a source of terms; determine preferred and non preferred terms; compile the terms into a classification scheme; create reports which were published online to enable consultation with stakeholders; export the classification scheme back into the network drives and then export the classification scheme into their Open Text CLM system.
